| "If we are to be rescued from the incessant tendency to psychologize the gospel, this book will be a good start. Dan and Tremper give us not more psychological information, but biblical encouragement to be faithful." |

The Cry Of The Soul:
How our emotions reveal our deepest questions about God.
Every day different emotions are coursing through our body and mind. Some are pleasant and don't last too long; others are painful, and are unwanted guests that stay too long. Too often our focus is simply how to keep the good feelings and get rid of the unpleasant. We fail to learn to listen to what our emotions are telling us about ourselves, our world, and most importantlyour God. Emotions are a window into a world we often prefer to avoid, yet is necessary if we want to know God. This journey of self-understanding will give you a surprising and compelling glimpse of Jesus, who experienced all that we feel and calls himself our brother.
Author's note:
The writing of this book came as a result of Tremper and I both being in a miserable time of life and wanted to ask God the question: What do we do with our fear, anger, and shame? And even more, we wanted to know what we were to know about God in the midst of his fear, anger, and shame? Emotions are not only revealing about us, but also reveal much about the heart of God. This is not a self-help book that provides a quick cure for difficult emotions; instead, it is a journey into a theology of emotion that lets God tell us about his feelings to let us experience our emotions with a different heart.
